How a teenage boy helped end the Cold War with Russia
by moshe insometimes people claim than an individual can't change the world, but i guess matthias rust , a 19 year old west german, never heard that one.
in 1987 he flew a private all the way to moscow to plead for world peace and his unbelievable flight probably did more to end the cold war than a bevy of professional diplomats.. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/26/ar2007052601262.html.
i am hoping an idealistic young person will bring down the wt org, too..

Broken Promises
Yes, my post was in regards to the comment Moshe made about “mommy and daddy stop talking to them”, anyone who stands up about the Borg.
I think it’s a very rude way to speak about people whom he doesn’t know - he doesn’t know their circumstances nor understand the emotional ties that people have with each other.
I did make a stand, and I am certainly no doormat, but at the same time it is wrong to make fun of people who may not have the emotional strength at this time to become a fully fledged apostate.

People who are “different” in some way are usually the most interesting and fun people to hang out with.
Count me in!
Ps. LOL @ the baby joke.

My G'Daughter Is a Latch-key Kid
by snowbird inshe's eleven, and rides the bus to and from school.. i used to have a van pick her up and drop her off, but the expense was too much.. she walks to and from the bus stop with the kids next door.
they are very good to her - they wait until she gets inside our house before they go into theirs.
when our cat escapes, they help round her up.. today, she forgot her key, and their mama called me and let me know she'll be staying at her house until i get off work.. mama will be giving her something to eat, right along with her kids.

Aww, they grow up too fast.
I was a latchkey kid, even though I grew up in the time when mummies stayed at home. My dad was a shift worker, and my mummy was frequently in hospital, so there’d be times when I’d have to let myself in the house. It was ok, I was used to being alone. My older sister would come home from work by 5.30 anyway, so it wasn’t a long wait.

To make such disparaging remarks about people who don’t want to lose contact with loved ones, shows what a cold and nasty person you really are.

Teach a squirrel to chainsaw and you'll run forever
by gubberningbody inyou know that old adage, "give a squirrel a chainsaw and you'll run for a day.
teach a squirrel to chainsaw and you'll run forever."?.
chainsaw wielding squirrels might raze all the nut-bearing trees to the ground, but it might also change the tactics of squirrels when they feel the need to defend themselves.

You only need to look at all those crying poor and living on welfare, who somehow they always have the money for their beer and cigarettes.

Were You A Happy JW or An Unhappy One?
by mentallyfree31 inwhen you were a witness, were you happy or miserable?.
i feel like i was pretty happy for over 20 of the 25 years.
only the last 5 years and especially the last 1-2 years did i really burn out and just wasn't that into it.

Broken Promises
I thought I was happy. But I started to be unhappy when I started to have doubts, and became tired of the hypocrisy. Then I left, and I was happy because I was free!!

Have you ever noticed how similar the Society is to a Multi-Level Marketing Business?
by SAHARA inmaybe this discussion has already taken place on this forum, or maybe some of you may scoff at this observation as just stating the obvious, but i think it may be worth while to post this for those of you who have yet to discover this paralell.
i was involved in a mlm business in the insurance industry from 1993 - 2000. this life insurance agency was started in 1977 by just a few individuals and had grown by recruiting average working class people to become part-time sales agents and sold them the american dream.
in just a few years time, this agency entered every state and grew into a sales force of roughly 200,000 people, part time and full timers, and by 1984 had become the #1 seller of life insurance in the country for approximately 15 years straight.
